PhD position (part-time, up to 75 %)
Payment, depending on qualification, up to 13 TV-H
(approx. 45k€…50k€ per year)

The position is in accordance with German regulations (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz) for a period of 3 years with the option for one year extension. It is intended to enable the successful candidate to obtain a doctorate degree in a cooperative doctorate procedure between the THM University of Applied Sciences and the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (Spain). The project in the research field of microelectronics aims at modelling of memristor devices in emerging technologies. The goal of the project is the development of analytical physics- based compact model for circuit simulations to be used in the context of applications such as resistive RAM or synaptic devices for artificial neural networks. In particular, the research will focus on considering stochastic switching in a circuit design process. For verification by measurements, we are in close collaboration with several international research groups.

Your Tasks:
  • Research in the field of microelectronics and physics of semiconductor devices
  • Ph D project regarding statistical compact modelling of memristor devices
  • Participation in teaching in the field of microelectronics and simulation
  • Requirements for the position:
  • Master’s comparable degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics
  • Excellent theoretical knowledge and practical expertise in the field of solid-state
  • electronics and physics
  • Good knowledge in mathematics, including stochastics
  • Programming skills
  • Good English language skills are necessary, basic German language skills are
  • desirable.
